No Train Service This Weekend in Wantagh and Seaford

Signal repair work on Babylon branch means no trains will be leaving Wantagh and Seaford Saturday or Sunday.

Local residents planning to take the Long Island Rail Road this weekend might want to jump on the Ronkonkoma branch or the north shore line as there is no train service out of Wantagh or Seaford  Saturday or Sunday due to signal replacement work being done on the Babylon branch.

There will be no westbound train service from the or LIRR stations. The LIRR will be running shuttle buses between Freeport and Babylon and LIRR officials recommend that travelers plan on a half hour extra for travel time.

The signal improvement project taking place between the Wantagh and Amityville stations requires a 42-hour suspension of service that began at 4 a.m. Saturday and goes through 10 p.m. on Sunday.

The LIRR said the signal work will provide more reliable service when it’s completed.

Some nearby LIRR stations offering train service this weekend include Farmingdale, Bethpage, Freeport and Hicksville. LIRR train service at these stations will be operating on a normal weekend schedule.
