Nov. 8: Election Day, Restaurant Week, 111-Mile Walk for Charity

2. Long Island Restaurant Week is underway and is lasting until Sunday. If you are looking for a place to get a great deal on a three-course meal, click here to find out some local participating restaurants. 

3. Rev. Ronald Garner, pastor of the Wantagh Memorial Congregational Church, began a 111-mile walk yesterday to raise awareness of the hunger issues that still exist all over Long Island. Check back later on Wantagh-Seaford Patch for a story on Rev. Garner's long journey for charity.

4. The Island Trees Public Library is hosting a program teaching students in grades five through 12 how to bake crepes this evening at 6:30 p.m. 

5. Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow is hosting a diabetes support group this evening at 8 p.m. in the Burn Center Conference Room on the 6th floor of the hospital. Call 516-572-6573 for more information.
