Oct. 28: Patch Halloween Contest, Spooky Fest, Soccer Playoffs

2. Are you looking for some Halloween fun this weekend? If yes then head over to nearby Rockville Centre where The Center for Science Teaching and Learning will be holding its third annual Spooky Fest tonight, Saturday and Sunday from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

3. The Nassau County boys and girls soccer playoffs get underway today and tomorrow and several local teams are in action eyeing a championship run. The schedule includes:

  • Seaford boys soccer at Valley Stream South today at 2:30 p.m.
  • Division boys soccer vs. Jericho today at 3 p.m.
  • Wantagh girls soccer at Seaford today at 4:30 p.m.
  • Division girls soccer vs. Glen Cove tonight at 7 p.m.
  • Island Trees boys soccer vs. Manhasset tonight at 7 p.m.
  • Island Trees girls soccer vs. Clarke Saturday night at 6:15 p.m.

4. Island Trees High School will hold its Homecoming celebration Saturday. The festivities get underway with a parade at noon followed by the Island Trees football team hosting Seaford at 2 p.m. It will also be a homecoming for Seaford head coach Rob Perpall, who was an All-County quarterback for Island Trees.

5. Musician Andrew Gabriel will perform at The Cup Coffee House in Wantagh tonight starting at 9 p.m.
