Sept. 26: Mosquito Sprayings, Eating Out for Charity, Golf Fundraiser

1, Nassau County has scheduled mosquito sprayings to combat West Nile Virus in sections of Seaford and Wantagh south of Merrick Road today from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. For further information on where the sprayings will take place, click here.

2. Butera's on 3930 Sunrise Hwy. in Seaford. will be donating a portion of proceeds this evening starting at 5 p.m. to Save Seaford Sports, an organization dedicated to raising the $141,000 needed to restore the Seaford Middle School winter and spring athletic seasons after they were cut from the budget. To donate to the cause, submit a Save Seaford Sports voucher, which is attached to this article.

3. The Wantagh Board of Education will be holding a meet and greet with the district’s new Interim Superintendent of Schools Dr. Richard Marsh and Assistant Superintendent for Instruction Dr. Maureen Appiarius this evening inside the Wantagh High School south cafeteria.

4. The Division girls soccer team will host defending state champion Garden City today at 4:30 p.m. The Seaford girls soccer team is also in action hosting neighborhood rival Plainedge at 7 p.m. 

5. The Wantagh-based John Theissen Children's Foundation will hold its fifth annual golf tourament fundraiser today at Hempstead Golf & Country Club. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. with a shotgun start taking place at 12:30 p.m.
