Oct. 14: Friday Night Football, Comedy, Volleyball Fundraiser

Your daily guide to what's happening in Wantagh, Levittown and Seaford.

1. Friday is expected to be a wet day in southeast Nassau County with an 80 percent chance of showers and new rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible, according to the National Weather Service.

2. The Seaford High School football team will look for its third straight win when it travels to Mineola tonight for a 7 p.m. kickoff. Saturday's schedule of local football teams includes:

  • MacArthur at Hicksville at 2 p.m.
  • Wantagh at New Hyde Park at 2 p.m.
  • Division at home versus Plainedge at 2 p.m. 
  • Island Trees at Roosevelt at 2 p.m.

3. Comedian Joey Kola will perform tonight at Governor's Comedy Club in Levittown starting at 9 p.m. Kola is also scheduled to hit the Governor's stage Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m.

4. North Bellmore strip club owner Billy Dean has filed suit against the Town of Hempstead Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) for revoking its previously approved cabaret application for his planned Wantagh business on 3500 Sunrise Hwy. 5. The Island Trees School District is hosting a volleyball fundraiser this evening  in memory of Joe Masi, an Island Trees student who was killed in a bicycle accident. The fundraiser gets underway at 7 p.m. at Island Trees High School.
