Slime Job

Yesterday’s mail included campaign literature which I would describe as nothing less than “character assassination”. The literature was paid for and sent by the NYS Republican state committee in support of Steve Rhoads in his effort to unseat Nassau County legislator Dave Denenberg.

Perfectly timed so as to allow virtually no time for a rebuttal, the literature, which Stephen Colbert might call “truthy”, referred to matters and alleged incidents which occurred many years ago and to other unproven, unsubstantiated and undocumented accusations.

Politics as usual?  I wonder if Mr. Rhoads has any blemishes he’d like to share with the voting public at this time. Denenberg made a mistake many years ago and was disciplined. End of story. I will vote for him on Tuesday based on his overall record. I’m not interested in having a well funded character assassin represent me.
