Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes is the signature fundraising walk of the American Diabetes Association. Formerly Step Out: Walk to Fight Diabetes and America's Walk for Diabetes, the event has been taking place for more than 20 years and has raised more than $150,000,000 to Stop Diabetes! More than 150,000 participants from over 130 walk events across the country came together last year to raise over $20 million. Step Out in Long Island will take place on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at Jones Beach. Enjoy a fun and exciting day of celebration as we recognize our united fundraising achievements in the fight to Stop Diabetes. We honor our Red Striders and show support with every step we take. Meet up with family, friends and colleagues and make new friends at the Step Out Walk! We'll have a fun-filled day with music, dancing, and valuable health education information through The Association and many sponsors and supporters in our vendor village!

Walk registration available in advance and onsite on the day of the event between 8:00-10:00am. Walk begins at 10:00am.To register to walk, or join/create a team, go here: http://main.diabetes.org/site/TR/StepOut/A1GNY-GreaterNewYorkCityArea?fr_id=8330&pg=entry

$20 million of the $40 million will be spent on adding a pocket track, presumably east ofRead More Massapequa. Currently, trains are reversed east of the Wantagh interlocking, and while the engineer walks through the train, it blocks the track. This addition of a "pocket track" will probably also help Wantagh commuters some times, just as an emergency pull-over space on the LIE helps.

True, true, I'm sure there's a political payoff/payback here somewhere.

A tantalizing, mind-teasing story about a faceless team with no names who won honorable mention forRead More some project about which we learned absolutely nothing from this article. Journalism 101: Who what, why when and where?
