Help Area Soccer Club and Local Charities

Help area residents in need through GoFundMe.

An Wantagh-Seaford based travel soccer club is looking for help raising funds to help cover costs.

Gregg Henglein created the campaign and says that 50 percent of donations will also be given to charitable organizations. THey hope to raise $5,000. As of THursday morning they've received $1,700.

The page reads:

PFK United is a travel soccer club based out of Wantagh/Seaford that began in December 2011. As an independent club, we have no intramural program to fund us like the big clubs do. As such, our costs are a bit higher. I want to provide PFK's awesome kids with the best experience possible, the best facilities, travel tournament opportunities (including a benefit tournament in Newtown, Conn.) and trainers, and I don't want PFK to be a place where only those with lots of money can play, which is a problem for so many of the big clubs. Anything I can do to defray costs would help, so any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

That said, we're all about the kids! As such, our fundraising program isn't merely for PFK, but is done as a 50/50 split with a different charity each week. Usually they are children's charities, but occasionally they are for causes affecting adults with some link to our club. Causes thus far include St. Baldrick's, Susan G. Komen For a Cure, Autism Speaks and the Ty Louis Campbell Foundation.

For the next month, through November 19th, PFK's 50/50 will be the American Cancer Society, in honor of Greta Henglein, our first and largest contributor and steadfast supporter of everything we've done and stand for. Greta lost a second battle with cancer this year, passing away on Oct. 3. This is a fitting way to honor and thank her for all she did for us!
