As a self-employed special education home care teacher, Lisa has touched the lives of many students over the years. Lisa is not only loved as a wife and a mom, she is loved as a daughter, a sister, a niece, a godmother, a daughter-In-Law, a sister-in-law, an aunt and a friend.  Lisa’s story has been absolutely perfect until her life was impacted by some very sad news.

June 17 was an ordinary day for Lisa and her family. They had just arrived to the park and while Lisa was helping her daughter Kayla out of her car seat, she found herself unable to speak. While this moment caused panic for Lisa, it was only the beginning of the terrible news to follow.

After being admitted to the hospital, Lisa underwent many tests to determine the cause of her symptoms. At that time, she was evaluated by many teams of doctors. Lisa was told that she had a brain tumor and the worst words of all soon followed: inoperable, cancer, radiation, and chemotherapy.

Lisa and her loved ones found themselves completely devastated. As symptoms begin to worsen, Lisa’s speech and motor skills have been affected, leaving her unable to work. In addition, Lisa is now unable to drive. Sadly, mounting medical bills have exceeded what insurance will cover. To make matters worse, Lisa is not a candidate for disability coverage. A problem only compounded by Lisa’s inability to earn income during this difficult time.

Currently, Lisa is undergoing chemotherapy and radiation and is taking other medications that go along with this type of intervention. She will continue with treatments and the tumor will be scanned in October to determine the effect of the treatments.

As the story plays out, Lisa has not been alone.  Together with Jim by her side, their love shines brightly. Together with the family that surrounds her.  Together with friends that bless her. Together through a shared belief in the power of prayer and faith. Together with hope and optimism. Together for Lisa.

The outpouring of love for Lisa and her family has been amazing. We thank everyone for keeping positive around Kayla and Amanda as they are far too young to understand the complexity of all that is going on. Lisa’s girls are the ones who motivate her to get up each day to undergo the treatments that are now a part of her daily routine. In addition, the kindness demonstrated by everyone has been wonderful. Please know that all of the encouragement from family, friends, and neighbors has strengthened Lisa.

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

We promise to keep you posted on Lisa’s Story as time progresses.  We thank you for your support and donations as this young family bravely faces this frightening diagnosis.
