Locals Flock to Farmers' Market

Dreary weather keeps some vendors away, but not customers.

The in Seaford began early Saturday morning at the Seaford LIRR station - dark clouds and all.

The damp skies did not detain nearby residents from taking in some culinary delights. Among the vendors were Polka Dot Pound Cake, Terry Farms of Orient, Papa Pasquale Ravioli Co. of Brooklyn, Orwasher's Bakery of New York City, The Pretzel Stop of Oceanside and Hahn's Old Fashioned Cakes Co. of Farmingdale and Sannino Wines of Peconic.

Laura Ryan Moakley wrote on the Wantagh-Seaford Patch Facebook page that the market was "great."

"I wish I would have brought more money."

Another attendee said the weather kept some vendors from participating this week and next week there should be more.

Thank you so much for bringing this market to Seaford. We bought something from each vendor - everything looked sooo good. Looking forward to next week.

I added the other vendors! Thanks! I bought a bunch of asparagus, which was delicious oven-roasted with some olive oil, garlic and toasted breadcrumbs. What did everyone else get? Jaime Sumersille Regional Editor, Nassau County

My husband was making 'Mmmm' sounds when trying the ravioli. Definitely heading back next week to score some of that!
