Seaford parish hosted its third annual block party this past Sunday.

St. William the Abbot R.C. Church in Seaford held its third annual block party this past Sunday.

The event, which was held behind the back parking lot of third church, was organized by the St. William the Abbot Social Events Committee.

“This helps the parishioners to get to know each other and to build community within the parish,” said Stephen Schleyer, a longtime St. William the Abbot parishioner and member of the social events committee.

The block party featured musical entertainment, games, pony rides, a petting zoo, popcorn, cotton candy and dessert table. There was also a peformance by “The Bystanders, a band made up of students from St. William the Abbot School. A St William the Abbot School youth group known as SWAT ran a face painting and temporary tattoo booth during Sunday's festive event.

“The block party is a chance to get the people in the parish together for fun and food," said Father Hayden, pastor of St. Williams the Abbot R.C. Church.

A raffle featuring prizes from Seaford businesses also took place during the block party. Gift certificates for the raffle were donated by Seaford Cinemas, route: {:controller=>"listings", :action=>"show", :id=>"seaford-cinemas"} -->, , ,
