Wantagh Library to Hold Breast Cancer Screenings

Tests available on Dec. 19.

Women in the Wantagh area will be able to take advantage of breast cancer screenings next month.

The screenings at the Wantagh Library will be sponsored by Tate Sen. Charles Fuschillo, R-Merrick, and NuHealth/Nassau Health Care Corporation.

The screenings will run from 8:45 a.m. to noon and will be scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. 

Services will include a  a mammography, a clinical breast examination and instructions for self examination.

The program is open to Nassau County women. If you're covered by by insurance, Medicaid or Medicare, they will be  billed and you must bring their information card to the screening, along with a prescription from their physician. You will also be responsible for any co-pays.

Women ages 50 and older without health insurance will be eligible to be enrolled in a grant program which covers the costs of the screening.
