New Release from Long Island Band
Local alternative rock band Allies has just released a new single.
Long Island has a lot of things to offer – certainly not least of which being a fabulous local music scene. Across the island, musicians of all ages are writing, performing, and all around working their hardest to pursue what they love, and do it well.
A prime example of this is Allies, an alternative rock band hailing from Nassau County (Merrick and Seaford specifically.) Their brand of rock is fun and funky, and the members are quick to note that the genre is not as important as the music.
Also notable is the band’s world view. They don’t separate the band from the fans – they’re all allies.

“We’re all just people, so they’re not our fans…they’re our friends,” says singer Joe Villafane.
Drummer Alex Kaufman elaborates, “We support them because they support us.”

The band’s hard work thus far has paid off, with a devoted fan following and a number of performances with other notable Long Island bands. This week, Allies released their new single, titled “King’s Comet,” available at soundcloud.com/alliesband. The song is a great example of just what Allies does. The song’s energy and funky beat, along with Villafane’s vocals mesh to create an upbeat melody somewhat reminiscent of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Allies will be performing this Sunday, August 19 at The Hub Billiards Club in Island Park at 4 p.m. More information on Allies can be found at facebook.com/alliesmusic.
