Do You Etsy?

Find unique fashion finds on Etsy.com.

Looking for unique, one-of-a-kind pieces to add to your fashion ensemble? Or maybe you’re looking for a less expensive alternative to a popular necklace. Pop on over to Etsy.com, “your place to buy and sell all things handmade,” and prepare to be amazed by the creativity.

Top fashion magazines are touting Peter Pan collars as a must-have for fall. Who are we to disagree? Simply type in Peter Pan collar into Etsy’s search engine and you can find gold ones, black ones, lace ones and so on. We love Very Vague’s detachable all-white Peter Pan collar for $16. Find it at VeryVague.Etsy.com.

Got your eye on J. Crew’s chunky Bubble Necklace? We found a cheaper version from Midnight Girls for $34. Bonus: this shop owner is based in New York City and offers free shipping and gift wrap. Visit MidnightGirls.Etsy.com to see the selection of colors offered.

Craving eco-friendly finds? There’s an Etsy shop for that too. Leslie Janson has a knack for re-purposing old grain sacks, rulers, vintage buttons and linens into mini works of wearable art. We love her 2-inch adjustable cuff bracelet made using a soft grain sack and tons of mini, white vintage buttons. $85 at LeslieJanson.Etsy.com.

You can support local Long Island-based Etsy artisans, simply by adding your location to the site’s search options. Most shops accept PayPal as a payment option; others accept credit cards, money orders and/or personal checks.

$20 million of the $40 million will be spent on adding a pocket track, presumably east ofRead More Massapequa. Currently, trains are reversed east of the Wantagh interlocking, and while the engineer walks through the train, it blocks the track. This addition of a "pocket track" will probably also help Wantagh commuters some times, just as an emergency pull-over space on the LIE helps.

True, true, I'm sure there's a political payoff/payback here somewhere.

A tantalizing, mind-teasing story about a faceless team with no names who won honorable mention forRead More some project about which we learned absolutely nothing from this article. Journalism 101: Who what, why when and where?
