Golden Stick Wiffleball: A Backyard Game Taken Way too Far

Competitive wiffleball? Read up on the NY region of Golden Stick Wiffleball, which plays its games over at Cedar Creek Park.

Hey, my name is Joe Bellear and I am part of the media team for the New York region of the Golden Stick Wiffleball League. This is an exciting time for us as we are getting ready to begin our region's third season of play over at Seaford's on Sunday, May 15.

The point of this blog will be to provide game stories, player features and league information as well as be a source of photos and video content from the games played.

What is Golden Stick?

Golden Stick, as the tagline says, takes the backyard game of wiffleball way too far. Our "fast pitch" league provides an arena for serious wiffleball play, while our "medium pitch" league is more friendly towards newcomers and casual players.

The teams who win the regional championship from the fast pitch and medium pitch leagues receive round-trip airfare and hotel accommodations to Las Vegas for three days.  There, the teams will square off against the regional champions from Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and California to decide the National Champions.

Obviously there are league fees involved which cover a custom made jersey, hats and cash prizes that are awarded to the top teams in the country.  More detailed information about these fees and what they pay for can be found on our website.

I want to play competitively, but I'd rather not commit for an entire summer.

In addition to league play, Golden Stick will also be hosting tournaments in Massachusetts, New York, Los Angeles and Pennsylvania over the summer months. Information about tournament entry rules can be found here.

I apologize if this first blog entry was a little dry.  As I mentioned earlier, this blog will be a source of various content about the league as the summer wears on.

If you know, or anyone you know may be interested in playing competitive wiffleball, you can contact the New York regional director, Seaford's own Rob Longiaru, at R.Longiaru@goldenstickwiffle.com for more details. Or, if you would just like to come down and watch some games, we play on the soccer fields at Cedar Creek Park with games scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. every Sunday over the summer.

We hope to see some of you this summer.
