Reflections of What Christmas Means to Different People

I used to be a Christmas purist. You were celebrating the birth of Christ, period. I have come to believe, however, that Christmas means different things to different people, and maybe that's okay.

The "holiday" season is in full swing, moving to it's close actually, as New Year's Day inches closer.

So as another Christmas comes and goes, and the warmth of the season itself, let's remember that more people celebrate the holiday than you may think, and it's not just ending for christians.  I have come across more and more people who celebrate Christmas who do not even believe in Christ.

The thought of that used to bother me. They had no right! It's not their holiday how dare they! They're just in it for the presents! They just want to be included!

Yes, those were my thoughts, and I'm not proud of it. I have learned that people celebrate the "spirit" of the season as well. It's the quintissential time of year to spread joy and peace, good will toward man.  Who wouldn't want a part of that? And if it means setting up a cheerful tree in your house, or hanging some lights in your windows why not?

Who doesn't get a warm fuzzy feeling when they slowly drive down a street that has lovely lights on the homes they see? I believe that feeling carries through to other aspects of your life because it lingers long after you've seen the lights.

Maybe more people should celebrate Christmas. It's the most wonderful time of the year. Just ask Andy Williams!
