Autism Walk at Jones Beach Sunday

Long Island Chapter of Autism Speaks sponsors event.

Area residents will go to Jones Beach to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars to help fund autism research Sunday.

They will take part in the annual Walk Now for Autism Speaks event.
Last year's event drew 32,000 participants and organizers have already raised more than $600,00 for this year's walk, according to the Autism Speaks website.

Participants will walk a three miles on the Boardwalk from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Jones Beach State Park.

Autism speaks is an organization founded in 2005 to advocate for the needs of people with autism and their families.
