'Long Island Medium' to Channel Fallen Wantagh Police Officer

The medium from the hit TLC show will speak to Michael J. Califano's widow Sunday night.

Jackie Califano, wife of fallen Nassau County Police Officer and Wantagh resident Michael J. Califano, never thought she would be able to speak to her husband again after he died in a crash on the Long Island Expressway in February 2011. But that will change on Sunday night.

According to The Daily News, Michael will be able to speak to Jackie through Theresa Caputo, star of the hit TLC show "Long Island Medium."

"When you say how hard it is and the days that you're feeling so alone," Caputo tells Jackie, "please know that your husband's soul is with you and he says, ‘And not for one moment do I ever want you to doubt my love for you.'"

According to her website, Caputo, of Hicksville, is a "typical Long Island mom who has a very special gift. She recently spoke to former Patch personality Stacey Sweet about talking to the dead. While [she] helps other families find closure and peace, her own family occasionally get annoyed by her inability to turn this gift 'off.'"

On Feb. 4, Califano was conducting a vehicle and traffic law stop on the westbound side of the Long Island Expressway at exit 39 in Old Westbury at 10:55 p.m. when he had his police vehicle struck from behind by a flatbed truck.

Califano sustained fatal injuries from the collision. He was transported to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow and died on the morning of Feb. 5.

$20 million of the $40 million will be spent on adding a pocket track, presumably east ofRead More Massapequa. Currently, trains are reversed east of the Wantagh interlocking, and while the engineer walks through the train, it blocks the track. This addition of a "pocket track" will probably also help Wantagh commuters some times, just as an emergency pull-over space on the LIE helps.

True, true, I'm sure there's a political payoff/payback here somewhere.

A tantalizing, mind-teasing story about a faceless team with no names who won honorable mention forRead More some project about which we learned absolutely nothing from this article. Journalism 101: Who what, why when and where?
