The students in the school's K-Kids program told the East Meadow Herald that many boaters on the Wantagh waters accepted their brochures and offered their condolences.

“We simply want to help reduce the chance that a boating accident will cause others to endure the sadness and loss that we feel over Harlie’s death,” said Rich Santer, the Bowling Green K-Kids advisor.

Santer told the Herald that the project taught the children that they can turn grief into a positive action.
