Former Salk MS Teacher Dies

Retired Salk history teacher James F. Rice taught passed away on June 10 at age 75.

James F. Rice of Levittown, a retired teacher at Jonas Salk Middle School, died on June 10. He was 75.  

Rice taught history at Salk Middle School, which is in the Levitton School District and is attended by students from northern sections of Wantagh and Seaford. 

Rice is survived by his wife Lorraine, children James (Joan), Lorraine Meyer (Christopher), Terrence, and Christine as well ad grandchildren Shannon, Luke, Paige and Brian. 

A wake for Rice is scheduled on Friday evening from 7-9 p.m. at the Charles J. O'Shea Funeral Home on 603 Wantagh Ave. in Wantagh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday starting at 9:15 a.m. at St. James R.C. Church in Seaford. Interment will then follow at  St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale.
