Wantagh Resident Gloria J. Weller Passes Away at 84

Funeral mass scheduled for Friday morning.

Gloria J. Bertsch (nee Weller) of Wantagh passed away on Tuesday, August 21. She was 84. 

Bertsch, who previously lived in Levittown before calling Wantagh home, was predeceased by her husband Donald. She is survived by her children Don (Sheila), Kevin (Pat), Tom (Anne), Nancy (Danny Scarangella) and Lori (John Pizzo), brother Charles "Mick" Weller, 17 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. 

A wake was held at the Arthur F. White Funeral Home in Farmingdale. A funeral mass is scheduled for Friday morning at 10:45 a.m. at St. Martin of Tours R.C. Church in Bethpage with interment to follow at Calverton National Cemetery.

$20 million of the $40 million will be spent on adding a pocket track, presumably east ofRead More Massapequa. Currently, trains are reversed east of the Wantagh interlocking, and while the engineer walks through the train, it blocks the track. This addition of a "pocket track" will probably also help Wantagh commuters some times, just as an emergency pull-over space on the LIE helps.
