Friends of Tackapausha is a local organization of concerned citizens looking for community support in their mission to assist Nassau County in providing programming to help run , which has been closed for renovation the past year.

On Feb. 17, the group held a highly successful in front of the closed museum in Seaford attended by more than 100 people. They heard the deputy county parks commissioner dispel rumors that the museum was going to stay closed or be privatized. They listed as the commissioner explained why the museum and adjacent pond remained closed and promised a spring reopening, but no firm date was given. Lots of questions remain unanswered.
