Letter to the Editor: Introduction of Candidate Vying For Wantagh Fire Commissioner Seat

David Goetz is running in Tuesday's Wantagh Fire District race against incumbent commissioner Jay Cohen.

The following is written by David Goetz, a candidate in Tuesday's Wantagh Fire District commissioner election against incumbent Jay Cohen.

To the editor:

My name is David Goetz and I am running for election of Wantagh Fire District Commissioner.

I have lived in Wantagh for the past 28 years. I live with my wife, Cindy, and my daughter, Erica. I’ve been a member of the Wantagh Fire Department for five years and I currently hold a rank of captain in the Fire Police unit. Before coming to Wantagh, I was a member and an Ex-Captain of the West Hamilton Beach Fire Department in the city for 16 years.

I would love to help the people of the Wantagh community and the Wantagh Fire Department. I am retired from the City University of New York (York College). I was an IT Tech for 42 years.

My goal is to make sure the men and women of the Wantagh Fire Department are safe and have the proper equipment to keep them safe. I would also like to help my fellow member assist the community in any way possible.

Voting is on Tuesday Dec. 11 between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m. Voting is opened at all Wantagh Fire Department stations.

Again in advance, I would like to thank all the community members of the Wantagh Fire District for their support in the upcoming election.

Thank you.

-

David Goetz

$20 million of the $40 million will be spent on adding a pocket track, presumably east ofRead More Massapequa. Currently, trains are reversed east of the Wantagh interlocking, and while the engineer walks through the train, it blocks the track. This addition of a "pocket track" will probably also help Wantagh commuters some times, just as an emergency pull-over space on the LIE helps.

True, true, I'm sure there's a political payoff/payback here somewhere.

A tantalizing, mind-teasing story about a faceless team with no names who won honorable mention forRead More some project about which we learned absolutely nothing from this article. Journalism 101: Who what, why when and where?
