~Resistance~

                                ~Resistance~

What we resist, persists. It’s an internal tug-of-war that will eventually wear us down, and give the spoils to the cause of our dissonance. Whenever we feel those pangs or dare I say anxiety lurking, our initial response is to try to deny it, push it away, or placate it. Sometimes these tactics work, other times they don’t. When these frets get overwhelming or occupy too much of our thoughts or activities, a new approach is required. It can lead us to the gate of “surrender,” where we can unload problems, worries, and fears – all of them. Surrendering is not giving up. It is just the opposite. When we surrender to God, we receive His grace with a huge bow of peace wrapped around it as we align ourselves with His Will. Don’t hold back. Jesus can take it. As a matter of fact, as our Supreme Healer, He looks forward to it.

We cannot become completely His until restrictive ties, regnant concerns, and riling issues are placed in His capable Hands. Before this point, we are at best faking it. Once our burdens are relinquished, our channels are cleared and opened, and ready to be filled with Divine Gifts. Isn’t that so much better than what is there now?  Exciting, isn’t it?

Resistance will eventually be overcome. The persistence of whatever is brewing and trying to free itself can only be postponed. We dally with delays and denial, while we assure ourselves that what has always worked will continue to do so. Why is it too risky to open ourselves to the unknown, and deal with our foibles, upsets, and projected limitations? The good news is you don’t have to do it alone. The Almighty is waiting. A few simple steps can get you there.

*Take deep breaths, and focus on them. Relax your body. Clear your mind.

*Turn inward to the quiet stillness. There is only peace here.

*Mindfulness of God – remain focused on this moment, where all is well. Once you are in peaceful communion, remember, Jesus gave you His Peace…

*Intend to be still with God. Prayerfully and joyfully surrender what consumes you. Remain in this state as long as you desire, and know you are loved.

Psalms 46:11, "Be still and know that I am God! I am exalted among the nations, exalted on the earth."
