Arrests Made Following Thursday Brawl at Jones Beach

Two Oceanside men facing assault charges after fight involving about a half dozen people broke out on beachfront.

Two Oceanside men are facing assault charges after a brawl broke out at Jones Beach Thursday evening, according to New York State Park Police.

The fight involved about a half dozen people on the beachfront near the Jones Beach Central Mall at around 6:30 p.m., police said. Details of what caused the altercation were not available.

After the fight was broken up, Oceanside residents Matthew Potts, 25, and Eric Zammit, 24, were arrested and charged with third-degree assault. They were arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead Friday morning and are being held at the Nassau County Correctional Facility in East Meadow, according to police.
