Bellmore Man Arrested for Wantagh Burglary

Miguel Alfaro was arrested after allegedly breaking into The Nook.

A Bellmore man was arrested Thanksgiving morning after allegedly burglarizing a Wantagh restaurant.

According to Nassau County detectives, at 5:04 a.m., a Seventh Precinct officer responded to located at 3195 Sunrise Highway, for an alarm. Upon the officer’s arrival, he discovered a broken window in the front of the business. The offier went to the side of the restaurant where he saw the defendant exiting the building carrying a bottle of liquor.

The defendant, Miguel Alfaro, 20, of Bellmore, attempted to flee when he was tackled by the officer and placed under arrest, police said.

According to police, the officer suffered an injury to his right knee. He was treated at a local hospital and released.

Alfaro is charged with burglary in the second degree and resisting arrest. He will be arraigned on Friday, Nov. 25, at First District Court in Hempstead.
