Bomb Squad Clears Suspicious Package at Jones Beach Theater

A male put a duffel bag into a flower bed and left the scene, police said.

The Nassau County Arson/Bomb Squad was called to the Jones Beach Nikon Theater Tuesday night after a suspicious bag was reported.

According to Nassau County detectives, around 7:28 p.m., while working the baggage check at Jones Theater, a security guard notified New York State Police after observing a male put a suspicious item into a flower bed and leave.

Nassau County Arson/Bomb Squad detectives responded to the scene and, upon investigation, deemed the contents of a duffel bag to contain no bomb making components, police said.

The bag was rendered safe and the property was turned over to the State Park Police Department, police said.

Carlos Santana and the Allman Brothers Band were headlining Tuesday night's show.

$20 million of the $40 million will be spent on adding a pocket track, presumably east ofRead More Massapequa. Currently, trains are reversed east of the Wantagh interlocking, and while the engineer walks through the train, it blocks the track. This addition of a "pocket track" will probably also help Wantagh commuters some times, just as an emergency pull-over space on the LIE helps.
