Cops: Cherrywood Mobil Robbed at Gunpoint

Police seeking suspect who stole money from Wantagh gas station after displaying a handgun.

Nassau Police are investigating an incident after an armed gunman robbed the gas station in Wantagh.

The incident occurred just before midnight Thursday at 1200 Wantagh Ave. According to detectives, a man armed with a black handgun approached the attendant and demanded money. The victim opened the cash register and the subject reached in and grabbed cash.

The suspect then fled to the side of 3348 Jerusalem Ave. where he entered an older model black Ford Explorer with beige on the bottom and headed westbound on Jerusalem Avenue.

No injuries were reported.

The subject is described as a light skinned male white or Hispanic, approximately 5’10” tall with a slim to average build. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with white lettering on the front, gray sweat pants and a white covering over his face.

Detectives ask anyone with information regarding this crime to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
