Cops: Elderly Man Struck by Car in Wantagh

Elderly man struck by another while walking in Wantagh, cops said.

An elderly man was hospitalized Wednesday morning after he was struck by another elderly man Wednesday morning, according to Nassau County Police.

The 85-year-old victim was crossing Seaman's Neck Road in Wantagh when he was struck by an oncoming car, cops said. The 2013 Hyundai was heading south and was driven by a 72-year-old man, police said.

The accident happened at 10:18 a.m. near Twisting Lane, police said.

The victim was brought to a nearby hospital for compound fractures in both legs and severe head trauma, cops said. His current status was not reported.

Police said they do not suspect any criminality in the accident. The car was impounded for a brake and safety check.
