Cops: Homeless Woman Broke into Wantagh Avenue Gas Station

Ariana Pecorella charged with burglarizing Getty Gas Station on Levittown-Wantagh border.

A homeless woman was arrested on burglary charges for allegedly breaking into a Wantagh Avenue gas station garage Sunday night.

According to detectives, Second Precinct police officers responded to the Getty Gas Station located at 606 Wantagh Ave. for the report of a criminal mischief in progress. When officers arrived they observed Ariana Pecorella, 35, no known address, inside the garage bay area of the station, which is located along the Levittown-Wantagh border.

An investigation revealed that the woman allegedly used a brick to break a glass panel of the garage door to gain entry. Once inside the defendant then allegedly broke multiple Plexiglas panels that were also part of the garage door, according to detectives.

Pecorella was placed into custody and transported to Nassau University Medical Center for treatment of cuts to her hands and for substance abuse.

Pecorella is charged with third-degree burglary and third-degree criminal mischief.  She will be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead as soon as medically practical.
