Crime Nearby: Home Invasion Becomes Police Chase; Vehicles Damaged

The following arrest information was supplied by the Nassau County Police Department; it does not indicate a conviction.

Bellmore

  • Four men were arrested and charged for alleged involvement in a home robbery in Bellmore on Sept. 19 that led to a police chase and gun fire throughout several neighboring towns. Read the full story
  • A complainant reported that unknown suspects threw eggs at his house on Seaview Lane for the third time on Sept. 13.
  • T-Mobile on Sunrise Highway reported that a 4G cell phone was stolen from the display rack on Sept. 17.
  • A bicycle was reported stolen from in front of King Kullen on Sunrise Highway on Sept. 16.
  • Sometime between Sept. 15 and Sept. 16 assorted jewelry was stolen from a house on Farmers Avenue.

East Meadow

  • On August 16, sprinkler damage at a residence on Lincoln Avenue was reported.
  • On Sept. 12, items were removed from an unlocked vehicle that was located on East Meadow Avenue.
  • Four tires were slashed on Albermarle Avenue on Sept. 12.
  • Sometime between Sept. 12 and Sept. 13, items were removed from a vehicle that was parked on Vincent Drive. No damage was done to the vehicle.
  • Items were stolen from a vehicle Maple Avenue sometime between Sept. 12 and Sept. 13.
  • A vehicle was scratched and dented sometime between Sept. 12 and Sept. 13 on Chestnut Lane.
  • Sometime between Sept. 12 and Sept. 13, an unknown person entered the pool area at 1700 Prospect Avenue and pushed two concrete pipe chase covers into the town pool, causing one of them to break.
  • Sometime between Sept. 15 and Sept. 16, change was removed from an unlocked vehicle on First Avenue.

Merrick

  • Sometime between Sept. 10 and Sept. 16, a 2004 model boat was reported stolen from the Marina on Whaleneck Road.
  • Items were removed from a vehicle that was parked on Seneca Gate. This incident happened on Sept. 14 between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m.
  • On Sept. 14, Vincent Coiro, age 19, of Levittown, was arrested on Babylon Turnpike near the Meadowbrook Parkway, Merrick and charged with driving while intoxicated and one violation of the vehicle and traffic law.
  • A vehicle parked on Midian Street was keyed and the tires were slashed sometime between Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. and Sept. 15 at 10:20 a.m.
  • Sometime between Sept. 15 and Sept. 17, a vehicle was damaged and items were removed from a vehicle that was parked at the Merrick LIRR station.
  • On Sept. 17 between 12 p.m. and 8 p.m., a bicycle was removed from the LIRR station.
  • On Sept. 19, Tomas Cruz, age 39, of Merrick, was arrested on Wantagh Avenue near Sunrise Highway, Wantagh and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the second degree and two violations of the vehicle and traffic law.

Seaford

  • An IPad2 was stolen from an unlocked 2012 Nissan Juke parked on Chestnut Street in Seaford on Sept. 7.
  • Zia Lovely Top Nails on 1698 Washington Ave., Seaford was burglarized through the store’s rear window between Sept. 15-16. No money was reported stolen.
  • The top pane of a glass door at 7-Eleven on 3615 Merrick Rd, Seaford was reported broken on Sept. 18.
  • The paint of a 2004 blue Mazda and 2003 blue Honda parked on Mansfield Drive in Seaford were scratched on Sept. 19. In addition, two tires were punctured on one of the vehicles as well as one tire on the other.

 

Wantagh

  • Criminal mischief was reported at in Wantagh on Sept. 12.
  • Two fish finders were reported stolen from boats docked at the Marina between Sept. 10-16.
  • A locked and secured bicycle was reported stolen from the station on Sept. 15.
  • On Sept. 16, Edward W Bradey, 53 of Wantagh was arrested at his home and charged with driving while intoxicated, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle five vehicle and traffic law violations.
  • The rear left tire of a 2006 tan Toyota parked on Wantagh Avenue in Wantagh was slashed on Sept. 16.
  • Assorted construction tools were reported stolen from a home on Berne Road in Wantagh between Sept. 16-17.
  • On Sept. 18, Yamil S Chams-Sanmartin, 42, of Amityville was arrested on Sunrise Highway near the Wantagh State Parkway in Wantagh and charged with driving while intoxicated and two vehicle and traffic law violations.
  • On Sept. 18, Bryant M Stevens, 21, of Highmount was arrested on Sunrise Highway near Jones Avenue in Wantagh and charged with driving while intoxicated and five vehicle and traffic law violations.
  • A man at the Wantagh Long Island Rail Road Station kicked the door of a person he was in a traffic dispute with on Sept. 19.
