Crime Report: DWI Arrests, Home Burglary

Recent incident reports in Wantagh and Seaford from the Seventh Precinct.

The following information is taken directly from the Nassau County Police Department's Seventh Precinct incident reports. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate a conviction.

  • Two cameras were reported stolen from a vehicle parked at Cedar Creek Park in Seaford on Nov. 12.
  • An oil tank was reported stolen from the side of a house on Widgeon Place in Seaford on Nov. 17.
  • A woman reported that she discovered her vehicle scratched when returning to it after getting out of South Shore Eye Care on 2185 Wantagh Ave. in Wantagh on Nov. 20.
  • A catalytic converter was removed from a vehicle parked at the Wantagh Long Island Rail Road Station parking lot on Nov. 20.
  • A coercion incident was reported on Carrollton Avenue in Wantagh on Nov. 22 at 8 a.m. No details were provided.
  • On Nov. 23, Tanya Weisberger, 42, of Seaford was arrested at the corner of Merrick Road and Seaford Avenue in Massapequa and charge with driving while intoxicated.
  • A home on Princeton Drive North in Wantagh was burglarized  on Nov. 27. Police said the point of entry was through a rear door with jewelry stolen.
  • A catalytic converter was removed from a vehicle parked at the Seaford Long Island Rail Road Station parking lot on Nov. 27.
  • On Nov. 29, Michael Barrett, 18, of Wantagh was arrested on Bayview Avenue in Wantagh and charged with driving while intoxicated as well as three vehicle and traffic law violations.
  • On Dec. 2, Vanessa Idrovo, 23, of Seaford was arrested on Waverly Avenue in Seaford and charged with driving while intoxicated.

$20 million of the $40 million will be spent on adding a pocket track, presumably east ofRead More Massapequa. Currently, trains are reversed east of the Wantagh interlocking, and while the engineer walks through the train, it blocks the track. This addition of a "pocket track" will probably also help Wantagh commuters some times, just as an emergency pull-over space on the LIE helps.
