Crime Report: Home Burglary, Snowplow Stolen

Recent incident reports in Wantagh and Seaford from the 7th and 2nd precincts.

The following information is taken directly from the Nassau County Police Department's Seventh Precinct and Second Precinct incident reports. 

  • A BMX bicycle was reported stolen from a backyard on Wantagh Avenue in Wantagh on Oct. 12.
  • A snowplow was reported stolen from Hicksville Road in Seaford on Oct. 17.
  • A GPS was reported stolen from a 2008 gray Honda parked at the Wantagh Long Island Rail Road Station near the intersection of Park Avenue and Beech Street on Oct. 18. No damage to the vehicle was reported.
  • A woman on Pine Street in Wantagh discovered jewelry missing from her residence on Oct. 19.
  • Two tires and rims were removed on Oct. 19 from a 2002 GMC that was parked in the southwest lot of the Seaford Long Island Rail Road Station.
  • A GPS, money and sunglasses were reported stolen from a 2002 black Ford Escape parked on Lakeview Avenue in Seaford on Oct. 20. Damage to the vehicle’s side and rear view mirror was also reported.
  • A home on Martin Court in Seaford was burglarized on Oct. 21. Entry into the house was made through a second story window with jewelry stolen.

$20 million of the $40 million will be spent on adding a pocket track, presumably east ofRead More Massapequa. Currently, trains are reversed east of the Wantagh interlocking, and while the engineer walks through the train, it blocks the track. This addition of a "pocket track" will probably also help Wantagh commuters some times, just as an emergency pull-over space on the LIE helps.
