Crime Report: Woman Lights Self on Fire, Assault

Recent incident reports in Wantagh and Seaford from the 7th Precinct.

  • A woman doused herself in gasoline and set herself on fire at the on Jan. 29, according to police. Witnesses attempted to extinguish the flames on the woman with snow and a jacket. The woman was transported to the Nassau University Medical Center burn unit and is in critical care.
  • Theoharis Toumazatos, 38 of Seaford was arrested at his house on Jan. 30 and charged with third-degree assault. Police said a private investigator, attempted to interview Toumazatos, but the arrestee flung the door open and pushed himself against the complainant’s chest causing him to fall down five steps into the driveway. Toumazatos then cornered the investigator and made threats against him, police said. The investigator proceeded to leave the home and call 911.
  • On Jan. 31, Anthony P Nusio,  22 of Hicksville was arrested on the corner of Bayview Street and Ocean Avenue in Seaford and charged with driving while intoxicated, unlawful possession of marijuana, and three vehicle and traffic law violations.
