Crimes Nearby: Man Arrested at Middle School, Murder Conviction

Recent criminal activity reported for Bellmore, Merrick, Levittown and East Meadow.

The following information is taken directly from the Nassau County Police Department's incident reports. None of the defendants have been convicted of a crime.

Bellmore

  • Nassau County police on Wednesday said two women were arrested for performing unlicensed massages at the Foot Spa on Merrick Road. Click here for more.
  • District Attorney Kathleen Rice announced on Wednesday that a Brooklyn man was sentenced to 25 years in prison for his role in a violent 2011 home invasion in North Bellmore. Click here for more.
  • A homeless man from Hempstead was arrested on Wednesday morning at Grand Avenue Middle School, after he robbed and stabbed a man in Freeport, police said. Click here for more.
  • At 10:22 p.m. on Sept. 27, an unknown person set fire to the base of a tree behind Martin Avenue Elementary School. 
  • Sometime between 8 p.m. on Sept. 15 and 8 a.m. on Sept. 16, unknown suspect(s) removed credit cards from complainant's unlocked vehicle on Judith Drive.
Merrick
  • Sometime between 11 p.m. on Sept. 23 and 7 a.m. on Sept. 24, a glass bottle was thrown through a vehicle's window on Northridge Avenue.
  • Sometime between 10 p.m. on Sept. 25 at 8:10 a.m. on Sept. 26, unknown suspect(s) broke a window of the complainant's vehicle on James Street and removed a laptop and accessories.
  • Sometime between 9 p.m. on Sept. 25 and 9 a.m. on Sept. 26, unknown suspect(s) broke a window of the complainant's vehicle on Lake End Road and stole an iPad.
  • Sometime between 10 p.m. on Sept. 25 and 6 a.m. on Sept. 26, the complainant discovered their Thinkpad and pocketbook missing from their vehicle, which was parked on Fox Boulevard.
  • On Sept. 30, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., unknown suspect(s) broke the window of the complainant’s vehicle and stole a pocketbook and cash while they were at the East Bay Veterinary Hospital.
  • Sometime between 10 p.m. on Sept. 25 and 5:30 a.m. on Sept. 26, unknown suspect(s) broke the rear window of complainant's vehicle on Clubhouse Road.
  • On Sept. 28, at 11:15 p.m., Peter Kosinski, 40, of Merrick, was arrested on Carlisle Place and charged with aggravated DWI, DWI, leaving the scene of an accident with injury, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle with suspended registration and four violations of the vehicle and traffic law.
East Meadow
  • After one day of deliberation, a jury convicted an East Meadow man of murder for shooting a stranger in the stomach with a shotgun in Hempstead last April, according to the Nassau County District Attorney's office. Click here for more.
  • An East Meadow man was arrested for drugs possession after police found marijuana, cocaine and more inside his Park Avenue home early Tuesday, according to Nassau County's Narcotics/Vice Bureau. Click here for more.
  • An East Meadow man was among three who were arrested for burglaries between Sept. 23-30, cops said. Click here for more.
  • Sometime between 7:15 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. on Sept. 27, a vehicle parked on Merrick Avenue had its window broken and a pocketbook was stolen.
  • Sometime between 6:10 p.m. and 6:20 p.m. on Sept. 27, a car parked at Home Depot had its window broken.
Levittown
  • At 8:15 p.m. on Sept. 27, a purse and Vera Bradley Tote were stolen from a vehicle while they were parked outside Governor's Comedy Club.
