Crimes Nearby Part I: School Evacuated, 'Granny scam'
Recent criminal activity reported in Levittown and Massapequa.
The following information is taken directly from the Nassau County Police Department's incident reports. None of the defendants have been convicted of a crime.
Levittown
- On April 11, a bottle of wine and gloves were stolen from a car on Cornflower Road in Levittown.
- On April 11, a Tag Heuer watch was stolen from a locker at LA Fitness on Hempstead Turnpike.
- On April 12, a pocketbook was removed from a vehicle at Red Rockets Tattoo on Wantagh Avenue in Levittown.
- On April 15, jewelry was stolen from a home on Squirrel Lane.
Massapequa
- The window of a vehicle parked at the North Massapequa Post Office on Hicksville Road was found broken on April 12 with a backpack containing an iPad stolen.
- A North Massapequa resident on North Pine Drive was targeted in a “granny scam” on April 13 and gave $5,700 to the suspect. For more details, click here.
- An unknown suspect broke the passenger window of a vehicle parked on Clocks Boulevard on April 13 and stole the navigation display, tires, rims and side view mirrors.
- Unqua Elementary School was evacuated on the morning of April 16 after a threatening message was received. For more details, click here.
