Crimes Nearby Part I: Student Approached by Stranger, Woman Threatened with Gun

Recent criminal activity reported in Bellmore, Merrick and East Meadow.

The following information is taken directly from the Nassau County Police Department's incident reports. None of the defendants have been convicted of a crime.

Bellmore

  • North Bellmore North Merrick Little League (NBNMLL) officials are looking for help in identifying those responsible for vandalizing the clubhouse at Saw Mill Road School. Click here for more details.
  • At 5:15 p.m. on March 31, Nicholas Casiello, 23, of North Merrick, was arrested at Newbridge Road and Dock Road in Bellmore and charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and four violations of the vehicle and traffic law.
  • Sometime between 6 p.m. on March 31 and 2 p.m. on April 1, the front door of the East Meadow Soccer Club on Newbridge Road in North Bellmore was damaged.
  • Sometime between 6 p.m. on March 31 and 2 p.m. on April 1, the front door of the East Meadow Soccer Club, which is located on Newbridge Road, was damaged.
  • Sometime between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on April 6, a cell phone was stolen at Mepham High School.

  • On April 6, an unknown man was seen breaking a vehicle window on Hempstead Turnpike.
  • A Long Beach man was arrested on April 11 after he allegedly struck a man with a golf club at the Eisenhower Park Golf Course Tuesday. For more details, click here.

  • A Merrick mother and son were arrested on April 8 and charged with criminal possession of heroin on Bellmore Avenue. For more details, click here
  • An eighth grader that goes to Grand Avenue Middle School was approached by a stranger in a sedan on the morning of April 10, according to an email to parents from Principal Carlo A. Conte. For more details, click here
  • A Merrick man was arrested on April 12 after he allegedly threatened threatened a woman with a gun. For more details, click here
