Crimes Nearby Part I: Swastikas Drawn on Sidewalk, DWI Crash into House

Recent criminal activity reported in Bellmore, Merrick and East Meadow.

The following information is taken directly from the Nassau County Police Department's incident reports. None of the defendants have been convicted of a crime.

Bellmore

  • On March 31, Nicholas Casiello, 23, of North Merrick was arrested at the intersection of Newbridge Road and Dock Road and charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle as well as four vehicle and traffic law violations. 
  • A man was arrested on April 6 in Bellmore after he allegedly drove drunk and crashed his car into a home on St. Mark's Avenue. For more details, click here

East Meadow

  • A Levittown man was arrested on April 4 after police said he broke into a Bethpage home and beat a man inside with a wooden table leg, then hours later stole a car from Auto World on Hempstead Turnpike in East Meadow and crashed while under the influence of drugs.   • Nassau County Police are investigating two swastikas that were discovered drawn on a sidewalk located at the corner of Andrea Road and Sherwood Road on April 6. For more details, click here. 

Merrick 

  • The motor of a man's Ford Explorer at A1 Transmissions on 153 Sunrise Highway was stolen on March 27 with the windows also discovered broken. Other vehicles parked in the lot were also reported damaged. 
  • On April 1, Rhonda Wander, 59, of Merrick was arrested on Narwood Avenue and charged with leaving the scene of an incident.
