Crimes Nearby Part II: Purse Snatcher Arrest, LA Fitness Thefts

Recent criminal activity reported in Levittown and Massapequa.

The following information is taken directly from the Nassau County Police Department's incident reports. None of the defendants have been convicted of a crime.

Levittown

  • On April 23, cash, an IPod, and a Tori Burch wallet was stolen from a car at the Hunter Business School off of Hempstead Turnpike.
  • On April 24 and 25, police reported a number of thefts at LA Fitness off of Hempstead Turnpike. A credit card, cash and a pocketbook was stolen from a car, a wallet, credit card and cash was stolen from four different lockers and a wallet with cash was stolen from a separate locker.
  • On April 25, glass was broken on a car outside Tutor Time.
  • Two women were arrested on May 1 inside an unnamed storefront at 172 Center Lane and charged with performed unlicensed massages on undercover detectives and then offering to perform a sexual act for an additional amount of money. For more details, click here.    
Massapequa 
  • A black 1998 Honda Civic was stolen off North Pine Street in North Massapequa in the early morning hours of April 24.
  • On April 26 during the overnight hours,  a printer and cash were reported  stolen from a vehicle parked in the driveway of North Queens Avenue.
  • A Roosevelt man was arrested on April 29 and charged with burglarizing a home on Elizabeth Street and being in possession of crack cocaine. For more details, click here.
  • A Massapequa Park man was arrested on May 5 and charged with stealing purses from women in North Massapequa, Bellmore and Freeport. For further details, click here
