Crimes Nearby Part II: Stolen Bikes, Leaf Blower Thefts

Recent criminal activity reported for Bellmore, Merrick and East Meadow.

The following information is taken directly from the Nassau County Police Department's incident reports. None of the defendants have been convicted of a crime.

Bellmore
  • On June 11, Ronald Rebentisch, 21, of Bellmore was arrested on Sunrise Avenue and charged with driving while ability impaired and driving while ability impaired with drugs.
  • A vehicle parked at Windowrama on Merrick Road was scratched on June 17.
  • A man reported on June 17 that someone scratched his vehicle parked on Merrick Road.
  • A man at Future Image Designs on Merrick Road reported on June 20 that an unknown chemical was poured on his front steps damaging them.
  • Cash was removed from a vehicle parked on Martin Avenue sometime between June 22-23.

East Meadow

  • A bike was stolen from a shed on Lenox Avenue on June 14.
  • The window of a car parked on East Meadow Avenue was broken sometime between June 14 and June 15.
  • On June 17, a leaf blower was removed from a trailer on Merrick Avenue. One June 18, items were removed from an unlocked vehicle that was parked on Aaron Place.
  • A GPS was removed from a vehicle parked on Meadowoods Drive on June 18.
  • On June 21, a leaf blower was taken from a vehicle parked on Front Street.
Merrick 
  • Sometime between June 1 and June 15, a bike was removed from a garage on Commonwealth Avenue.
  • On June 11, a complainant discovered that the tire and rims were removed from their Infiniti parked on Beach Road.
  • Unknown suspects stole power tools from a locked storage bin at Merrick Motors on Merrick Road.
  • A woman's bike was removed from a shed on Marion Avenue sometime between June 16 and June 20.
  • On June 18, Jill Tobia of Amityville was arrested in Merrick for driving while intoxicated,  aggravated driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident.
  • Sometime between June 21 and June 22, the tires of a car parked on Grand Avenue.
