Fire Damages Section of Wantagh House

Nobody hurt from blaze at Interlake Drive home.

A fire broke out at a Wantagh home late Wednesday afternoon causing damage to the rear of the house, but nobody was injured from the blaze.

The blaze that began at 5:24 p.m. at a house on Interlake Drive was started by a cardboard box that caught fire, according to First Assistant Chief William Allen. The fire was knocked down in less than 20 minutes.  All occupants of the house were able to exit without injury.

The responded to assist Wantagh firefighters in putting out the blaze.

Fire inspectors observed the house after the blaze was extinguished. Allen said the fire appears to have been an accident and is not considered suspicious.
