Man Arrested in Seaford for 2009 Crime

David Gilbert allegedly stole beer from a Massapequa Pathmark before attempting to assault a security guard.

An Amityville man was arrested Friday morning in Seaford for a robbery that took place in Massapequa back in 2009.

According to Nassau County detectives, at 5:50 p.m. on July 6, 2009, David Gilbert, 49, of Amityville, was observed by security officers at the Pathmark store located at 941 Carmans Road in Massapequa as he loaded a shopping cart with cases of Budweiser beer and exited the store without making any payment.

When security officers attempted to place handcuffs on Gilbert, he violently swung at them causing one of the security guards to suffer a serious injury to his left eye, police said.

Gilbert fled the scene and was arrested at 8:55 a.m. in Seaford on Friday as part of a careful and detailed investigation by Nassau Police.

Gilbert is being charged with robbery in the second degree and was arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Saturday.

$20 million of the $40 million will be spent on adding a pocket track, presumably east ofRead More Massapequa. Currently, trains are reversed east of the Wantagh interlocking, and while the engineer walks through the train, it blocks the track. This addition of a "pocket track" will probably also help Wantagh commuters some times, just as an emergency pull-over space on the LIE helps.
