Man Charged in Wantagh-Seaford Home Burglaries

Giovanni Colantuono of Levittown is among four individuals reportedly involved in several residential burglaries last December.

A Levittown man was arrested Thursday and charged with burglarizing several homes in Levittown, Wantagh and Seaford late last year.

According to detectives, on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011, Giovanni Colantuono, 20, along with three others went to a Sunrise Lane home in Levittown, forced open a rear door and stole assorted jewelry. On Monday, Dec. 19, 2011, the defendant along with three others reportedly went to a Kell Place home in Seaford, forced open a rear door and removed assorted jewelry, an iPod, several video games and Christmas presents. Later that day the four suspects allegedly went to a Wantagh home on Greentree Drive, forced open a rear sliding glass door and entered. Once inside they were scared off by the victim who woke up. On Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011 they returned to the Greentree Drive home and forced open a rear window. Once inside they allegedly stole a pair of earrings and cash.

On Thursday, March 15, at 7:15 p.m. police officers approached Colantuono, who was seated in his car in front of his home and saw he was holding a clear plastic bag of marijuana.

The defendant is charged with four counts of Burglary 2nd degree and Criminal Possession of Marijuana 5th degree and will be arraigned on Friday at First District Court in Hempstead. Police did not release if the other three suspects were apprehended, however, the investigation is ongoing.

The arrest information was supplied by the Nassau County Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.
