Cops: Man Impersonates Police Officer After Pulling Over Women in Car

Christopher Gabriele, 27, of Massapequa allegedly identified himself as an officer after following a car in Wantagh.

A man reportedly falsely represented himself as a police officer to two women Saturday evening after allegedly flagging them down from his vehicle on Wantagh Avenue in Wantagh.

According to police, Christopher Gabriele, 27, of Massapequa was driving behind two female victims, ages 20 and 21, when he began beeping his horn at the victims.

The victims made a hand gesture towards the defendant who then pulled along side them and showed a black wallet type case, which appeared to be a police officers’ shield and instructed the victims to pull over. The victims complied and pulled into a gas station located on Wantagh Avenue and Old Jerusalem Road. The defendant exited his vehicle and approached the victims stating he was a police officer. The defendant then returned to his automobile and fled the scene. 

The two females recorded Gabriele's license plate and notified police. Nassau County Police later arrested Gabriele at his home.

Christopher Gabriele is being charged with Criminal Impersonation 2nd Degree and was released on a Nassau County Appearance Ticket to appear in First District Court in Hempstead on July 9.
