Motorcyclist Killed on Sunrise Highway

A Seaford man was involved in the accident.

Suffolk County Police detectives are investigating a crash that killed a Levittown man on a motorcycle who was stopped at Sunrise Highway's median just west of Horseblock Road in Yaphank.

Police said Jason Delauro had pulled his 2005 Honda motorcycle into the median when a westbound BMW, driven by Gregory Dean, drifted out of the left lane into the median, striking Delauro.

Delauro, 32, of Levittown, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Dean, 32, of Seaford, refused medical attention.

Both vehicles were impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing.

o a fellower biker- who i never knew until today .... I wish I could turn back time for you I wish you had seen it coming so it weren't true I wish the driver paid attention and saw you In his sight For then you'd still be riding free into the night I wish I could have comforted you as you hit the ground But I know that God sent his angels there to all around I said a prayer as I looked to be sure you were really gone Asked for a blanket to cover you to keep you warm Saw the tattoo on your left arm Noticed your brown thick hair Saw your work boots so far away and a helmet from your head that didn't stay Many things I wish I did not see But just know I wasn't there just to look and see I came hoping I could help - but it was to late I will pray for your friend who was with you and his fate- help his pain of loosing you his friend- help his heart to mend I will pray for your family who will miss you so And pray for the driver that made this so I pray for accidents like this will teach the rest - don't take your chances when driving , be alert, stay focused and don't send any texts ..! Bless your free soul and ride on without a care As you are now with God and his care . RIP fellow biker who lost his life on sunrise hwy today - you have forever touched my life !! My heart aches for you and your loved ones left behind
