Nassau Cops Seek Nail Salon Bandit

A masked man is striking salons on weekday evenings across the county, police say.

Nassau police are searching for a man they say covers his face with a mask or a bandana and then robs nail salons. The man has targeted salons weekdays between 6-8 p.m. across Nassau County, according to police.

Detectives say the man has been described as white, between the ages of 40 and 60, of thin build and between 5-foot-3 and 5-foot-6. He has struck business around closing time, displaying a black handgun, and said, “This is a robbery, open the register.” He then flees the scene on foot.

Police are warning merchants to be aware of their surroundings, especially during opening and closing hours. Merchants are asked to call 911 immediately if they see any suspicious persons or activity.
