North Wantagh Neighborhood Cordoned off for Police Investigation

Police on scene early Sunday investigating incident on Lawrence Drive but have not yet released specific details.

Nassau County Police blocked entrance to a North Wantagh neighborhood Sunday morning while they worked on an active investigation in the area.

A police spokeswoman did not release specific details on the investigation taking place on Lawrence Drive but said the original call at 8:55 a.m. was for a burglary in progress. Police cordoned off the area surrounding the intersection of Francis Drive and Lawrence Drive, which is located just south of North Jerusalem Road in the vicinity of the Nassau BOCES Rosemary Kennedy School.

No additional information on the investigation was immediately available as of early Sunday afternoon.

$20 million of the $40 million will be spent on adding a pocket track, presumably east ofRead More Massapequa. Currently, trains are reversed east of the Wantagh interlocking, and while the engineer walks through the train, it blocks the track. This addition of a "pocket track" will probably also help Wantagh commuters some times, just as an emergency pull-over space on the LIE helps.

True, true, I'm sure there's a political payoff/payback here somewhere.
