Police Investigate Wantagh Hit and Run Accident

Nassau County Police Department Eighth Squad detectives are investigating an early August hit and run accident in Wantagh that left an 18-year old female with multiple injuries.

The incident occurred on Old Jerusalem Rod just east of Gardiner's Avenue on August 7 at around 11:30 p.m. when what the driver of what is described as a black four-door compact traveling east struck the unidentified teenager and fled the scene. Part of the investigation will determine how fast the car was going at the moment of impact, according to Nassau County Police Department spokesman John Mullaney.

The victim suffered injuries to her legs, shoulder and face admitted to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow in stable condition. Anyone with information on the late August 7 leaving the scene of an accident is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
