Police: Man Arrested on DWI Charge, Possession of Ecstasy in Wantagh

Matthew Grady of Medford faces multiple charges after being pulled over on the Southern State Parkway early Saturday, State Police say.

A Medford man was arrested on a driving while intoxicated charge early Saturday morning in Wantagh after being pulled over on the Southern State Parkway, State Police said.

Matthew Grady, 24, was pulled over just before 4 a.m. near the Wantagh Avenue exit of the Southern State Parkway for driving 35 mph in a 55 mph zone and for failing to dim the headlights of his Toyota, police said.

Troopers at the scene detected the odor of alcohol while questioning Grady, who police say also had watery and bloodshot eyes. Grady failed sobriety tests and was then arrested for DWI, according to police.

Grady was also found to be in possession of a small amount of the drug ecstasy, police said.

Grady is charged misdemeanor drug possession, driving while intoxicated and traffic violations. He will face the charges in Nassau's First District Court on Feb. 10.

$20 million of the $40 million will be spent on adding a pocket track, presumably east ofRead More Massapequa. Currently, trains are reversed east of the Wantagh interlocking, and while the engineer walks through the train, it blocks the track. This addition of a "pocket track" will probably also help Wantagh commuters some times, just as an emergency pull-over space on the LIE helps.

True, true, I'm sure there's a political payoff/payback here somewhere.
