Police: Student Injured Climbing Window at Rosemary Kennedy

Youth in BOCES program suffers scratches to leg after leaving first floor window.

Nassau County Police responded to the in Wantagh late Wednesday morning after a student climbed out a first floor window and suffered scratches to his leg.

Police received a call about the incident at 11:03 a.m. and responded to the school, which is located on 2850 N. Jerusalem Road. A Nassau County Police spokesperson did not have specific details on the incident. Police also did not have information on the student's age or gender.

The Rosemary Kennedy School is affiliated with Nassau County Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) and serves students ages nine to 21 with multiple and moderate to severe developmental disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorders, developmental delays and Multiple Disabilities.

Nassau BOCES spokeswoman Angela Marshall issued the following statement: "Nassau BOCES is committed to providing a safe and secure learning environment for all students. Student confidentiality prevents us from commenting on any particular child. As always, we work with parents to ensure that students receive all necessary services. "

$20 million of the $40 million will be spent on adding a pocket track, presumably east ofRead More Massapequa. Currently, trains are reversed east of the Wantagh interlocking, and while the engineer walks through the train, it blocks the track. This addition of a "pocket track" will probably also help Wantagh commuters some times, just as an emergency pull-over space on the LIE helps.
